Semiconductive water-blocking tape
Semiconductive water-blocking tapes have similar properties to water-blocking tapes, i.e. they swell on contact with moisture and prevent water from penetrating inside cables used in critical applications. They also have some degree of electrical conductivity, which reduces potential partial discharges and ensures correct construction between the layers of high voltage cables.
Like non-conductive water-blocking tapes, they have a high capacity to absorb water at the point of entry (usually where insulation failure has occurred), blocking moisture and ensuring that damage to the cable is minimised. In addition, damage is quickly located and easily repaired.
